A male pelvic ultrasound would be utilised to identify conditions of the prostate or bladder such as an enlarged prostate, bladder stones or other pathologies associated with male pelvic anatomy.
Bladder (with post micturition volumes if requested), prostate and left and right iliac fossa.
A full bladder is required to undertake the scan, so please drink 1-2 pints of water 1 hour prior to your scan.
You will need to expose your pelvis as the ultrasound requires skin contact with the probe, so please wear loose fitting clothing.
If you are already due an ultrasound as part of your current healthcare pathway please consult your GP prior to making an appointment to ensure your scan is needed and does not conflict with your current NHS Provision
